Eleanor Parsons

Ellie’s work is primarily concerned with the effect of light on fabrics, and the shadows they can create, depending on the weave structures used. She works with cotton, viscose, nylon and plastics to combine both matte and shiny threads which contrast and complement each other. Heat is used to finish the plastic materials to set them and ensure their stability and the rigidity of the woven yarns.

By lighting and photographing the work, she shows how varied and abstract her fabrics can look when viewed from different angles and in different levels of light.
